Show Notes

Here’s another Gordon Lightfoot tune that may not be as recognizable as many of his other songs that I’ve covered here. Somehow, “I’ll be Alright” crept into my consciousness, and I’m happy to offer my cover of the song in this post.

To me, the song is as lovely and memorable as many of Lightfoot’s hits, including: “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Early Morning Rain,” and “Song For A Winter’s Night.”

Please enjoy this remembrance of the one and only Gordon Lightfoot.

[00:00:21] I'll be all right I'll be all right if I don't have to smile if I don't have to face the morning for a while I'll get along, you know I'll face tomorrow with the grin if I never have to think about her love again Then I won't mind if words are spoken in empty love songs as long as I don't have to hear, I'll be alright if I don't have to face the world again and if I ever love again I'll be all right Last night she gave the final word she said her last goodbye and disappeared forever in the world outside kissing and she took her leave to go I know not where into the misty shadows of the midnight air and I won't mind if words are spoken in empty love songs as long as I don't have to hear I'd be alright if I don't have to face the world again and if I never love again I'll be all right and if I never love again I'll be all right.
